Puebla, Pue. January 13, 2025 – Volkswagen de México reaffirmed its commitment to manufacturing excellence in a year that presented challenges for the automotive industry, strengthening its position as a benchmark for the North American region. By the end of 2024, the German automaker reported a 9.5 percent increase in vehicle production at its Puebla plant compared to the previous year.
According to data made public by the National Institute of Statistics (INEGI), the cumulative production of Volkswagen de México from January to December 2024 reached 382,312 units. These results reflect its ability to adapt and its focus on meeting market needs.
Jetta, Taos, and Tiguan: A successful year of production launches
The production of Volkswagen Taos and Volkswagen Tiguan SUVs totaled 269,995 units, marking a 4.07 percent increase compared to 2023.
For its part, the New Jetta reached a production of 112,317 units, representing a 25.07 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Last year marked a period of production launches for these iconic models. The heart of the New Jetta is proudly Mexican, as two of the engines for this vehicle are assembled at the Volkswagen plant in Silao. Additionally, the third generation of the Volkswagen Tiguan incorporates the EA888 2.0L engines with 150kW and 200kW, also produced at the factory located in the state of Guanajuato.
The New Taos represented the second production cycle of this model, four years after its introduction to the production lines in Puebla in October 2020. Additionally, in 2024, it was with the Volkswagen Taos that Volkswagen de México reached the milestone of 14 million vehicles produced in its 60 years of history.

The Volkswagen Group closed the year with 177,261 units sold, reflecting an 18.2 percent increase compared to 2023, according to INEGI figures cited by the Mexican Association of Automotive Dealers (AMDA). With these results, the Volkswagen Group maintained its position as the third multi-brand corporation in Mexico, with a market share of 11.8 percent. "The results of 2024 reflect the effort and dedication of the team in Mexico. Each vehicle produced represents the company's commitment to delivering quality and solutions that meet consumers' needs. Volkswagen de México will continue working to stay at the forefront in an ever-changing environment. Evidence of this is that this year we also began the manufacturing of the New Jetta, New Taos, and New Tiguan, milestones that mark a new era of production, starting with the pedal to the metal, and which will continue in 2025 with the opening of the new 100 percent sustainable paint shop," concluded Holger Nestler.
