The car sales in Mexico recorded the best July since 2016. This came after the mercado interno registered sales of 124,761 units 124,761 units during the seventh month of the year, according to data from the National Institute of Geography and Statistics (INEGI).

The Administrative Registry of the Automotive Industry of Light Vehicles (RAIAVL) from the agency showed that this is the second-best historical figure for July, only behind the one recorded in 2016. In that year, 132,109 units were sold monthly, and the industry registered a historic annual sales record with 1.6 million deliveries.

Between January and July 2024, the cumulative sales of cars and other light vehicles amounted 833,411 units. With these figures, the sector is on track to reach the sales estimates from the National Association of Automotive Distributors (AMDA), which range between 1.4 and 1.5 million units.

The 10 best-selling car brands in Mexico

According to INEGI, the top-selling car brand in July was Nissan. The Japanese distributor sold 20,836 light vehicles in July. This company is known for its bestsellers, the Versa and NP 300, which contribute to its monthly figures.

Meanwhile, the second-highest selling car manufacturer was General Motors, which includes the brands Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac. This company sold 17,076 units during the seventh month of the year, with part of its volume driven by the popularity of the Aveo model.
