In this session, the results of the 4th Bimester 2020 Human Capital Indicators Survey were presented, as well as those of Pulse Survey No. 1: Influenza Vaccines and 2021 Scenario Projections, in addition to the strategic agenda 'Think Thank Lab'. These projects are carried out with the intention of collecting data and sharing it with associated companies, in order to provide them with valuable information to help them make decisions.
In addition to the associates, representatives from MERCER attended, who presented the gathered information, as well as Rolando Alaniz, president of CLAUGTO, and Alfredo Arzola, CEO of CLAUGTO.
Rolando Alaniz began by highlighting the importance of Human Capital in the industry and shared the day's agenda. Later, Alfredo Arzola took the floor and commented that there have been 10 years of growth up to this current year 2020, with high demand for personnel from 2013 to 2015, a period in which Japanese assemblers were installed and most suppliers expanded in the region; the count as of October 2020 is only 1,800 jobs lost in the automotive industry, in a balance from October 2019 to October 2020.
In the last 10 years, an average of 20,000 jobs were generated in the automotive industry. This figure directly impacted the sector's turnover, as an average of 50,000 vacancies are maintained each year.
Julieta Manzano, Commercial Director of MERCER Mexico, commented that with NOM 035, adjustments were required in the benefits and care of human resources, especially in the current context we find ourselves in due to the pandemic, where health issues are of great importance.
On their part, Atza Peñalosa and Luis Escalante, representatives of MERCER, presented the Human Capital agenda for the upcoming year (2021) and made recommendations based on the Social Security reform:
Estimating the increase in costs for Social Security purposes.
Establishing a plan to mitigate the increase in contributions.
Reviewing the compensation package to verify efficiency and maintain competitiveness.
Maintaining or analyzing increasing savings schemes in order to complement retirement benefits.
Pablo Núñez, Director of CIE PEMSA, commented that with the services offered by MERCER for pension calculation, it is possible to identify the impact of social security contributions for each of the companies, which can be very useful for predicting the expenses that companies will have to incur and thus establish action plans.
The Mercer associate Armando García went into detail on health issues, specifically on measuring the demand for influenza vaccines in Guanajuato. He highlighted the case of Silao with 36 installed plants and 10,733 required vaccines; Irapuato with 22 plants and 9,903 required vaccines; and León with 18 plants and a request for 7,270 vaccines.
Finally, Humberto Hernández, Manager of Evercast, shared his experience in general, facing the challenges focused on operational staff in 2021 and the legitimization of collective contracts, inviting directors and human capital managers to make an important effort to carry out awareness campaigns and to properly communicate improvements and new benefits for unionized staff.
