Pirelli celebrates 10 years in Guanajuato

On October 29th, in the city of Silao, Guanajuato, Pirelli celebrated 10 years since arriving in the state of Guanajuato and 150 years globally. During this celebration, they announced a new investment within the plant located in Puerto Interior of 114 million euros. 

It was also mentioned that they are very happy to be in Guanajuato, as they have skilled labor and because of the warmth of the people of Guanajuato. During the event, it was noted that Pirelli faces several challenges such as electric vehicle manufacturing and digitization.

As part of the celebration of Pirelli's 150 years globally, they presented a book they made themselves called "Pirelli is not just a tire factory, it's a culture," where they describe and recount how the company has developed in Italy, Mexico, and the world. 

The surprises didn't end there, as it was also announced that the 114 million euros from this new investment will be used to create a development, training, and innovation center at their plant located in Puerto Interior. This center will help improve competitiveness. Additionally, Pirelli's CEO in Mexico, Dr. Claudio Zanardo, said, "Once again, we reinforce our commitment to this region; we are investing, and we are here to stay."

On the other hand, Governor Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo mentioned that when the Pirelli plant was established in Silao, it had 300 employees, and today they are 2,800, which speaks to the growth they are experiencing. He also highlighted that with the new investment, 400 new jobs will be created, bringing Pirelli's total Mexican workforce to 3,200 employees. 

This event was presided over by the Governor of the state of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo; the Mayor of Silao, Carlos García Villaseñor; the Ambassador of Italy to Mexico, Luigi Di Chiara; the President and CEO of Pirelli North America, Dr. Claudio Zanardo; the CEO and General Director of Pirelli Tires Mexico, Paolo Banea; the President of the Confederation of Industrial Chambers of the United States (Concamin), José Antonio Abugaber Andonie; the Secretary of Government of Guanajuato, Libia Denisse García Muñoz Ledo; the Secretary of Sustainable Economic Development, Ramón Alfaro; and the Secretary of Health, Daniel Alberto Díaz Martínez.
