Despite the Impact of the Electoral Climate in the U.S., the Automotive Sector Grows in Guanajuato

The U.S. presidential election caused a slowdown in the establishment of automotive companies worldwide, acknowledged Carlos Talamantes, President of the Guanajuato Automotive Cluster. He noted, however, that the automotive industry in Mexico has still achieved a 5% growth.

In fact, he highlighted that in the last semester, Guanajuato reported a 24% increase in production.

"Since November, the industrial sector has experienced an interesting shift in how the market is moving, and growth expectations have slowed. This is causing many companies to rethink their decisions," Talamantes explained.

The automotive leader pointed out that the industry is gradually finding a new equilibrium.

"Here in Guanajuato, there are many factors to consider, including electromobility. About 80% of a car's components are universal," he added.

On a national level, the automotive industry has grown by 5%, and the auto parts sector by 10%, while Guanajuato has outpaced this with growth exceeding 24%.

"There are many factors at play. In the auto parts sector, we supply not only companies like General Motors and Toyota but also export to other countries," Talamantes explained.

He recalled that they initially expected a 12% to 14% increase in the state, but the total growth has reached 24%, well above the national level, even as the international outlook remains uncertain.

"We are living in a volatile and uncertain world, and it’s hard to predict what will happen. However, we must be prepared to face upcoming challenges," he concluded.
