Mitsui Kinzoku focuses on employee skill development

Mitsui Kinzoku is a Japanese company with
North American investment, focused on the design, manufacturing, and assembly of
automotive sheet metal. They produce sheet metal primarily for Japanese brands
but also for some European ones.

It is one of the 8 most important companies in Japan,
dedicated to mining and metal exploitation. They are part of the ACT division,
which has approximately 14 plants worldwide.

They are currently developing new technologies for the latest
designs of their clients, aiming to automate their processes and make assembly
more efficient. Additionally, they are increasingly developing fewer mechanical
sheets and more electronic ones.

One of the standout programs within the Human
Resources area is the training zone. Samuel González Sánchez, Human Resources
Manager, explained that in Japanese culture, there is always an emphasis on teaching.
Therefore, regardless of the profile with which employees enter, the
goal is to promote the skills of everyone.

The training zone is based on a plant in Japan,
another in the United States and one from a Japanese company established in Mexico that
opened its doors for them to observe their methods. In this space,
they are taught about safety conditions, recycling, as well as Mitsui's
processes: stamping, injection, and assembly.

There are different stations, each with distinct instructions,
so that newly hired employees can learn the processes and
improve their skills in a playful manner. The Manager mentioned that they
have a program called 3 x 3, which entails each person mastering 3
operations (their own and two adjacent ones), so that 3 people can perform
the same activity and 1 person can perform 3 activities. This way,
employees can perform different tasks each week,
moving to different production lines.

Finally, Samuel highlighted that as a company of Japanese
origin, the culture of this country is embedded in Mitsui's daily
operations. Therefore, training consists of many repetitions and good
practices.
