Annual Investment Report 2024 – Industrial Cluster
The year 2024 has witnessed strong investment in the automotive sector in Mexico, with the United States playing a prominent role as the leading investor, solidifying its position as a growth driver and collaborator in the region.
Investments from the United States: A Growing Link
The United States has proven to be the leading investor in Mexico, with a total of $2.645.7 billion USD invested during 2024. This growth was driven by projects in auto parts manufacturing, development centers, and especially Stellantis’ investment, which, with $1.6 billion USD, modernized its plant in the State of Mexico, dedicated to the production of electric vehicles such as the Jeep Wagoneer and Cherokee. This boost reinforces the significance of the USMCA and its key role in the bilateral relationship.
A Decline in Investments from China.
On the other hand, there has been a significant decline in investments from China, with only $258.85 million USD in the last quarter of 2024, representing an 86.6% drop compared to the same period in 2023. This decline appears to be linked to global tensions and a shift in the strategy of Chinese companies, which are now prioritizing sectors other than automotive.
