"I am passionate about seeing something that starts from nothing reach the point of being a physical piece. From visualizing the project, receiving the designs, and being informed about the standards it must comply with, but at the end of the day, you have to interpret that information and make it so simple and easy that anyone can reproduce the process. That's what I'm most passionate about," Marcela Portillo, Process Engineering Manager at Hutchinson, stated.

Marcela is a Materials Chemical Engineer. She explained that it is a career that allows you to see from scratch how different products are made. She shared that, as part of her professional career, she has worked in various diverse areas, collaborating with doctors in research centers and industries. 

She also worked at Safran Group, which represented her first approach to the aerospace industry, where she experienced the level of demand required by the industry. In the group, they were dedicated to making landing gear, which involves processes such as machining, heat treatment, chroming, nickel-plating, cadmium-plating, final assembly, and painting finishing.

Later, she transitioned from the aerospace industry to the automotive industry at Concorde Group S.A. de C.V., where she was responsible for making trunk interiors for clients such as Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Volvo, and Tesla. One of the most significant challenges in her career was the industrialization of the new BMW project and working together with a multidisciplinary team. The main objective was to start the mass production line and have contact with all areas. It was achieved on time and in a successful manner. The process was so successful that it was implemented as a 'seedbed' in other projects. 

"The strongest advantage it gave me was being able to prove to myself the leadership capacity I could have and that I could achieve the objectives with the help of different people, by empowering them," Marcela emphasized.

Finally, she highlighted another challenge the company faced due to the unfortunate closure of a BMW supplier plant. Concorde Group took its place and relocated machinery and processes to Concorde's facilities to continue production of parts within a record time of 4 months. Marcela greatly appreciates the support provided by her mentor, Engineer Ruben Leal, and all her colleagues.

She has been with Hutchinson Mangueras for 3 months now, and her main goal is to build a strong team that addresses the current needs of the company with the arrival of new projects and clients.
