Last Friday, June 14, a lecture was given at the “Economic Perspectives 2nd Semester 2024” and ‘Foreign Trade Solutions’.organized by CLAUGTO in collaboration with BANORTE. This event proved to be a valuable space to obtain greater clarity regarding Mexico's current economic outlook, and to strengthen knowledge in foreign trade matters.
During the talk, Alejandro Padilla, Deputy Managing Director of Economic and Financial Analysis at BANORTE, shared his perspectives on the challenges and opportunities that 2024 will bring for the global economy. Padilla highlighted that, although significant challenges are expected, Mexico could show remarkable resilience thanks to several key factors:
- Stable macroeconomic framework: The country's economic stability provides a solid foundation to face possible adversities.
- Strong relationship with the U.S.: Close economic ties with the United States continue to be a fundamental pillar of the Mexican economy.
- Favorable outlook going forward (nearshoring): Current trends of supply chain relocation to closer regions offer unique opportunities for Mexico.
Gabriela Cabrera Arroyo, Director of Foreign Trade Products, explained the crucial role played by Export Credit Agencies (ECAs). These agencies, which include insurance companies and official banks from the most developed countries (OECD), have the fundamental purpose of supporting and promoting exports from their respective countries through guarantee and credit policy schemes and programs.
The event not only provided valuable information on the economic situation and foreign trade, but also reaffirmed CLAUGTO's commitment to continue working on behalf of the automotive community. We thank all participants and hope that these types of initiatives will continue to strengthen the knowledge and capabilities of our community.
Let's keep saying #SoyCLAUGTO!
