The inauguration of Datwyler's new liquid silicone and thermoplastic injection area took place on Monday, December 13th. Among the special guests were David Clark, Chief Operations Officer for the Americas at Datwyler Sealing Solutions; Walter Padró Loya, General Director of Datwyler Sealing Technologies Mexico; Alejandro Rangel Segovia, General Secretary of the Union of Automotive Metalworking Industry Workers; José Vargas, Operations Manager of the Guanajuato Automotive Cluster (CLAUGTO); and Francisco Vidal Flores, from the Investment Attraction Coordination of the Ministry of Sustainable Economic Development.

After 13 years since the plant's foundation, the company has acquired this machinery for the injection production line of thermoplastic and liquid silicone parts and components, representing an investment of over 45 million pesos.

The event began with welcoming remarks from the Director of Datwyler, who expressed gratitude for the attendees' presence and highlighted that it was a very important day. He emphasized that the new liquid silicone and thermoplastic injection area is a useful technology for various essential applications in the automotive industry. With the development of this area, Datwyler became the only company in the state and one of the few in the country with this technology. He stressed that the company has made significant investments to acquire two machines, one located in the Silao plant, while the other is under construction in Germany.

On the other hand, José Iglesias, the engineer in charge of the LSR and TPL project, provided an introduction to this plastic and silicone injection area. He explained that plastic injection is one of the pillars in automobile manufacturing, and thus, "the search for innovation has resulted in the implementation of the two-component process [...] where thermoplastic is injected into a press, and then this piece is introduced into a second press, in a silicone injection mold where it is over-molded; the key is to have these two components injected in the same process to save on assembly process without compromising any of the functions. Plastic injection is done with the product hot and is cooled in the mold to form the piece, while silicone injection is done cold and is vulcanized in the mold at high temperatures."

As part of the event, José Vargas, operations manager of CLAUGTO, presented the company with the CLAUGTO Accreditation certificate, a model that evaluates 9 areas to ensure that the company meets the satisfaction level required by the industry.

To conclude, David Clark, Chief Operations Officer for the Americas at Datwyler Sealing Solutions, remarked that the level of satisfaction among both employees and customers at the plant is very high. He extended congratulations to the Datwyler team for their achievements.
