The University of Guanajuato, in collaboration with the Guanajuato Automotive Cluster A.C. (CLAUGTO), through its Guanajuato Campus, hosted the event “Asset Security: Practical Experiences in the Automotive Industry.” The initiative aimed to explore critical topics related to “Security and Safety” while fostering connections between academia and industry processes.

According to the press release, the event featured specialists from three multinational companies and CLAUGTO, who shared insights on environmental practices, infrastructure and product protection, cybersecurity, and compliance policies.

This event was sponsored by the VidaUG Ecosystem alongside the General Coordination of Academic Development of the Guanajuato Campus. It was held at the Marfil Campus with the participation of faculty and students from various disciplines such as Quality and Productivity, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, and Safety and Hygiene Committees from several campuses.

During the inaugural ceremony, the Project Manager of the VidaUG Ecosystem, Mtro. Juan Francisco Razo Robles, emphasized the importance of aligning integration strategies, noting that survival depends on the ability to reinvent and move forward.

He highlighted the evolution of the automotive industry over decades, urging attendees to envision the next hundred years and embrace the challenge alongside UG, leveraging the invaluable human capital represented by students. He stressed that innovation is a collective effort, supported by institutional and industry collaboration.

Mtro. Razo Robles encouraged attendees to look toward the future and address challenges that have yet to arise while taking full advantage of the training opportunities offered by UG.

Representing Dra. Claudia Virginia Negrete Jiménez, Lic. José Eduardo Pacheco Retana, the liaison between Guanajuato Campus and the VidaUG Ecosystem, welcomed attendees.

He expressed gratitude for the automotive-focused lecture series, particularly those addressing asset security—a key sector for the economic and social development of the state and country.

“We gather not only to learn from industry leaders but to build bridges between academia and industry, marking a significant step toward strengthening our community,” stated Lic. Pacheco Retana.

He highlighted the focus on industrial safety, asset security, hygiene, and environmental topics, emphasizing their importance for any organization or institution. Additionally, he noted the responsibility of ensuring safe and healthy workplaces and the value of sharing best practices during these events.

Lic. Pacheco Retana also acknowledged the participation of students from various multidisciplinary and administrative fields, environmental and industrial engineering, which enriched synergies and expanded knowledge in the automotive industry.

The Coordinator of CLAUGTO’s Safety Committee, Lic. Enrique Rocha, praised the event's scope, which attracted four experts in industrial safety, asset security, hygiene, health, and the environment. He noted the dynamic and demanding nature of the sector, highlighting the need for ongoing training.

Lic. Rocha oversees CLAUGTO, representing over 200 companies and facilitating projects, activities, and events to link academia with the automotive industry.

Present at the event were Mtro. Juan Manuel Guzmán, Chair of CLAUGTO’s Asset Security Committee, and speakers Alfredo Nieto, Sergio Jaime, and Enrique de Jesús Ramírez.

Also attending were Lic. Raúl Castillo Zavala, Head of the Safety and Prevention Unit at Guanajuato Campus; students from various academic programs; faculty members; and staff from Safety and Prevention Units across multiple UG campuses.
