BMW Group achieved a historic sales record during the first half of 2024 in the automotive market of Latin America. The company consolidated its position as a leader in the Premium segment, with notable growth in electric models.

The BMW brand delivered 20,678 vehicles in the region, an increase of 13.8% compared to the same period in 2023. MINI also experienced growth, with 3,344 units sold. This success is attributed to technological openness and the wide range of available products, key elements in reaching this record.

The president and CEO of BMW Group Latin America, Reiner Braun, highlighted the focus on customers and the support of a successful team in the region, including factories and engineering offices in Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil. Braun mentioned the importance of new models such as the BMW iX2, BMW X2, BMW i5, and BMW Series 5, as well as the new generation of MINI models to drive sales in the second half of the year.

Sales by country show significant increases

In terms of sales by country, Brazil led with 7,646 BMW units and 883 MINI vehicles delivered, registering increases of 20.1% and 26%, respectively. Mexico followed with 7,058 BMW units and 1,695 MINI units, while Argentina showed the highest regional growth with a 44.7% increase in BMW sales.

Strong performance in hybrid and electric vehicle sales

A significant part of the success is attributed to electrified models. BMW Group sold 4,703 electrified units in the first half of the year, an increase of 22%. Of these, 1,584 were fully electric models, marking a 43% increase and setting a record. Sales of plug-in hybrids also reached a new historical high with 3,119 units sold, a 13% increase compared to the same period in 2023. MINI maintained its pace with 720 electrified units sold, including 9.2% of fully electric models.

The first half of 2024 has been a successful period for BMW Group sales in Latin America, particularly highlighted by the growth in electric vehicle sales, reflecting the growing demand and acceptance of sustainable mobility in the region.
